Max Weinberg with Dr. Goldberg after Cataract SurgeryAs Johnny Nash sang in the ’70’s–“…I can see clearly now”. That’s how I feel after sixty years of extreme near-sightedness compounded by bi-lateral cataracts and ended by the wonder of Doctor Goldberg’s precise medical artistry. In concert with his extremely friendly, efficient, and thorough associates at Atlantic Eye Physicians, Doctor Goldberg literally opened my eyes to a world I’d never known. Swimming without banging into the end wall, diving into the ocean’s surf, and eliminating the life-long indentations on the side of my nose from my glasses, I feel reborn and free. Thanks to everyone at Atlantic Eye Physicians for giving me the confidence to proceed with these procedures and providing me with the life-changing result.

Woman drinking coffee and smiling after LASIKI teach English Composition to college freshman, but I give myself high marks for getting LASIK. I’d worn glasses since I was ten, and in one day, I had better than 20/20 vision without them. Now that’s smart!

Jane Wittman-RollIt’s been a month since my laser surgery and I’m still overwhelmed and amazed at the miracle of clear sight. I’ve worn glasses since I was six-years-old (you know the kind…they used to call them “coke bottle” glasses). I’ve worn contact lenses for the past 35 years. My experience with the doctors and staff of Atlantic Laser Center was just wonderful. They were friendly, professional, and caring throughout every aspect of the process, from the first phone call to the surgery itself, as well as the follow-up visit. I can’t find enough superlatives to describe them!

I did a lot of research before I made my decision to use the Atlantic Laser Center. I’ll confess that I was pretty nervous about going ahead with the surgery until I met with Dr. Goldberg. He was patient, compassionate, very realistic, and reassuring. The actual procedure went faster than I could ever have believed. It is painless and I could see the results immediately! The results kept getting better every hour. By 8 a.m. the next day, my vision was 20/25 in both eyes. (It was 20/800, with astigmatism, before the procedure, which means that I couldn’t even see the wall that the chart was on!) I’ve also found that my night vision is greatly improved. I still need reading glasses…Dr. Goldberg can’t do anything about the fact that I’m over 40!

My only regret is that I waited so long to have it done. Two of my co-workers also used Dr. Goldberg for laser surgery. Their testimonials helped me to make the decision to use Atlantic Laser Center.

Dawn Ashenfelter and George ArgentoGeorge and I have worn contacts and glasses for the last 13 plus years. We had always heard about LASIK surgery for corrective vision. Even though we were both tired of the daily routine of wearing contacts we were still hesitant about LASIK surgery. A co-worker of ours highly recommended Dr. Goldberg’s office, so we took a chance and made the appointment. Dr. Goldberg’s staff was wonderful. On the day of the surgery, I was very nervous but the nurses on hand were very comforting and reassured me that everything was going to be all right. The procedure was quick and easy and the staff was great! They really took care of us! The minute we arrived home from the surgery they called us to see how we were doing. Again, this reassured me that Dr. Goldberg and his staff were very thorough in what they do. It is a joy to wake up in the morning and be able to see the alarm clock. My vision is even sharper than when I was wearing contacts and George’s vision is now 20/20.

Thank you, Dr. Goldberg and Staff.

Lauren L. MeehanFor practically my entire life, I’ve been legally blind. Not only could I not read the big letter “E” on the eye test screen, but I couldn’t even tell what time it was if I woke up in the middle of the night. My vision could never be adequately improved with glasses. Objects would look distorted, and I had a hard time gauging distances (even on stairways).

I’ve always relied on contact lenses in order to function, and they certainly weren’t the typical nice looking disposable lenses. Because of my prescription and astigmatism, my contact lenses were huge saucers and had to be meticulously taken out and cleaned every night. Yearly replacements were expensive and had to be ordered at least a month in advance. My biggest fear was that down the road my vision would become so bad that not even contacts would be able to help me.

My husband, Michael, also had poor eyesight although his vision was magnitudes better than mine. He alternated between glasses and contacts lenses. However, Michael was never entirely comfortable in contacts, and he was always losing his expensive eyeglasses. This past September, Michael decided to look into LASIK surgery. After much research, he decided to arrange a consultation with Dr. Goldberg. Michael turned out to be a perfect candidate for LASIK vision correction so he scheduled the surgery. He was amazed that it was quick and painless and that he was able to return to work the following day with 20/20 vision!

Of course, I was incredibly jealous of Michael’s newfound eyesight! I had always wanted to have eye surgery but had always been told that, due to my prescription and my astigmatism, I was not a good candidate. My husband mentioned this to Dr. Goldberg during a follow-up visit and was told that with the latest surgical improvements, they might be able to improve my vision. My New Year’s resolution was to at least go through the evaluation to see if there was any chance that they could improve my vision.

After the extensive consultation, Dr. Goldberg told me that in the past I definitely would have not been a good LASIK candidate. However, Dr. Goldberg did say that recently he “has had some patients with vision as bad as mine and has had good results with LASIK.”

That was more than enough for me. I would be thrilled with any amount of improvement! I immediately scheduled the surgery for the following Wednesday afternoon. My husband took me, and I was in and out in 20 minutes. By 5 p.m. that day, I was able to read my emails and had no problem seeing the river from our back window. Amazingly enough, I woke up the next morning and drove to the gym. It was the first time in my life that I had ever driven without glasses or contacts!

Today my vision is 20/20, which is something that I never thought would be possible. I barely remember wearing contacts, and it feels like I was born with this perfect eyesight. LASIK surgery has literally changed my life! I now see better than I ever did with glasses or contact, and I don’t ever have to worry when I swim or travel. LASIK was definitely one of the best things that I have ever done, and I’m now encouraging both my brothers who have equally bad eyesight to go for the surgery. Many thanks to Dr. Goldberg and his team!
Sincerely-Lauren L. Meehan

Jason C. MandiaI have been a glasses and contact wearer for the past 10 years. In all honesty, neither was for me. I lead a somewhat active lifestyle and constantly found my glasses to be inconvenient, especially in those hot summer months. As for contacts, I could never find a pair that could consistently remain in place. I started out using extended wear lenses and then two years ago switched to daily wear. Both types of lenses would either dry out or fall out. In addition, I began having headaches as a result of these problems.

I never seriously considered LASIK surgery as an alternative. I was always frightened by the “what if” factor. As an attorney, I rely greatly upon my vision. Despite the fact that many people around me were having the procedure successfully performed, I was still reluctant. Finally, the headaches and all around inconvenience got the better of me.

I then began the search for a doctor to perform the LASIK procedure. Dr. Goldberg turned out to be the most highly recommended and qualified doctor in the field. I learned this not only through research but also through the experience of my younger brother and various friends who had the surgery performed by Dr. Goldberg. I called Dr. Goldberg’s office and set up an appointment to be evaluated. Once at the appointment, the staff explained every step of the process to me. Before every test, the nurse would explain what was being examined and what I could expect. It was just the remedy to cure my fears of the unknown. After the evaluation, I set up an appointment for the surgery. I was examined on a Wednesday and returned on that Friday for the surgery. The process leading up to and during the surgery was the same as evaluation day. Before surgery, Dr. Goldberg explained every step of the procedure. During the surgery, he again explained each step as it was being performed. It was a very comforting and reassuring atmosphere. As for the surgery itself, I felt no pain. The only sensations were a little bit of suction and some very mild annoyance that I liken to having a grain of sand in my eye. The entire procedure, from the time I entered the office, took about 30 minutes. Although this may seem short, at no time did I feel rushed. Dr. Goldberg and his staff were very courteous and patient and allowed me to proceed at my own pace.

The day after surgery I could see clearly. I had absolutely no discomfort. At my follow-up appointment, I was told that I tested at 20/20 vision. To my amazement, as the days passed my vision improved even more.

LASIK surgery has significantly altered my life. I am no longer worried about my vision, losing a contact while I’m driving, or suffering from a headache while pouring over voluminous stacks of legal papers. I am free to do all the things that previously found inhibitive, such as my wife’s and my passion for SCUBA diving, spending a day skiing without glasses fogging or contacts drying, and going for a swim. I highly recommend the surgery to anyone who is in a situation similar to mine. And, it should go without saying, based upon his credentials, my experience, and the experiences of those close to me, I highly recommend Dr. Goldberg.
Sincerely- Jason C. Mandia, Esq.

Larry MihlonHaving gone to Dr. Goldberg for the LASIK procedure gave me a new lease on life. Glasses and contacts were an obstacle for me both in my profession as a law enforcement officer and in my personal life. Dr. Goldberg exuded experience and confidence, which made the natural (and, in my case, extreme) apprehensiveness diminish greatly. He and his staff made me feel more welcome and at ease than any other medical professionals, I had dealt with.

LASIK not only freed me from the trapping of corrective lenses but also gave me the best-corrected vision yet! The entire procedure took so little time and the recovery was so quick I was flying a World War II trainer plane two weeks later!

I not only recommend LASIK to any potential candidate but also have it done by Dr. Goldberg and his staff!

Joe AmbrosToday is the year anniversary of my eye surgery. Just a note to say thanks again. My eyesight is perfect and I recommend your office to everyone I speak to. I tell the story of my surgery at least once a week. Please call me if you ever need a recommendation of anything in my line of work.

I went to Dr. Goldberg at Atlantic Laser Center and they were great. After obtaining literature from several other eye surgeons, I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Goldberg. During my consultation, he convinced me that I did not have to travel across the state or country to have laser eye surgery. All the equipment and experience that was needed for successful, painless eye surgery was right there in his office. It has been 14 months since my surgery and I am still amazed by my perfect vision. I would recommend Dr. Goldberg and his staff to anyone I know.

Dear Dr. Goldberg,
Words can not express the pure joy of having perfect sight again. Everyone in your office was so helpful and encouraging.

Most of all, thank you for taking the time to explain the pros and cons of my surgery and allaying any of my fears.
Thank you,
Audrey Koppel

To Doctor Goldberg and Staff,

Rocky and Joanne VolpeOn behalf of my wife and me, I would like to thank you for giving us the vision we had twenty years ago. I for one can appreciate waking up in the morning and looking at the alarm clock without fumbling around for my glasses or going around in the day moving my head up and down trying to read or see distances through my old bifocals. As for my wife, she could tell the time on her wristwatch on the way home after the LASIK procedure. Also, she loves the fact that after only two days she was able to thread a needle, and once again tweeze her eyebrows without old glasses being in the way. The monovision was the perfect procedure for both of us.

Also, thank you and your staff for the time and patience in answering our questions and putting our minds at ease at a very stressful time.
Sincerely yours, Rocky and Joanne Volpe
